With SmartMusic, you have an instant backup band right in your practice room. Play songs you know with all kinds of different groups while you learn to play an instrument. Definitely better than practicing by yourself!

Record yourself playing and make your own CD
SmartMusic lets you record yourself playing with your backup band as accompaniment. You can be the star of your own CD! Hear how you sound, give copies to your parents and grandparents as gifts, and share your music with friends.

With SmartMusic, anything you play can be instantly recorded and burned to a CD. You can even introduce the song with a voice greeting, and then play to make it even cooler.

Get better, faster
When you're learning to play an instrument, it's not always easy to know when you're playing a song correctly, especially if you've never even heard the song before! SmartMusic helps you get through it.

When you play with SmartMusic, the software follows what you're playing and shows you on the computer screen how well you're doing. When you play a note correctly, it turns green on the computer screen, right before your eyes. The notes you miss turn red to help you figure out where you need more practice. Make it a game to see how many green notes you can get.

If you need a reminder on how to play a note, click the note and SmartMusic will show you the correct fingering. SmartMusic is there to help you learn more quickly.

Move at your own pace
You learn at your own pace when you use SmartMusic. Start practicing slowly until you get the hang of it, and then increase the tempo. SmartMusic puts you in control. If you already know the assignment your teacher gave you, you can move ahead to new songs. Pick any of the hundreds of songs from the other books in SmartMusic and have fun exploring new music!
